Tushop, a technology-enabled company in Kenya, is seeking a Procurement Associate – Sourcing to join our team. Your Role: Reports to: Senior Operations Manager

As a Procurement Associate – Sourcing, you will play a vital role in our procurement operations, focusing on sourcing fresh produce while ensuring quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. You will collaborate with farmers, markets, and our logistics team to ensure a consistent supply of fresh produce for our customers. The ideal candidate has knowledge of seasonal produce availability, builds strong supplier relationships, and prioritizes quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Daily purchase of fresh vegetables, fruits, and other requested products from market vendors.
  • Identify reliable suppliers for quality fresh groceries and negotiate favorable terms to optimize procurement costs.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with farmers, markets, and perishables vendors.
  • Plan sourcing activities based on seasonal changes, optimizing for freshness and availability.
  • Coordinate transportation of purchased products to warehouses and ensure timely availability for dispatch.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of sourcing activities, including invoices, receipts, and quality records.
  • Adhere to quality control measures and seek cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
  • Identify new supply opportunities and potential sources for fresh groceries and other in-demand products.
  • Forecast demand and plan sourcing activities to prevent overstocking or shortages.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve sourcing processes for enhanced efficiency.

Profile Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Agriculture, or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of procurement experience, preferably in sourcing fresh produce or food products.
  • Ability to assess the quality of fresh produce accurately, with knowledge of quality control and safety standards.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with stakeholders.
  • Proactive mindset with a preference for hands-on fieldwork and stakeholder interactions.
