Rowdy youths forcefully entered Nakuru War Memorial Hospital, hours after the county government handed over the facility’s management to its owners. The youths chased away employees who had returned to work after the hospital’s reopening. Hospital matron Patricia Musale reported that terrified staff fled, fearing harm and theft of their property. The incident occurred after the police, accompanied by Nakuru County Police commander Samuel Ndanyi, ensured compliance with a court order to return the hospital’s management to its owners.

Justice Millicent Odeny had issued three previous orders to Mr. Ndanyi, which were not implemented until he appeared in court on Wednesday to explain the difficulties faced in complying with the orders. The hospital was instructed to conduct an inventory to assess damages and ensure everything was in place after a raid by county askaris on January 23. During the recent incident, a DVR machine containing footage of the forceful takeover was reported missing from the matron’s office.

The case will be mentioned on February 5 to confirm compliance with the court orders.
