John Matara, the primary suspect in the murder of socialite Starlet Wahu, is scheduled to face charges of rape and robbery with violence today.

This latest legal action follows Matara’s previous charge of murdering Wahu in front of the High Court in Nairobi just a month ago. Denying the murder charges before Justice Kanyi Kimondo on February 2nd, he was subsequently remanded at Industrial Area prison.

Now, amidst an ongoing police investigation triggered by multiple reports from women in the Kasarani area, Matara is confronted with additional charges.

Matara had been under investigation by detectives in connection with the brutal killing of Wahu, whose body was discovered at an apartment in the South B area in January.

Wahu was found deceased in a private room where she had checked in with a man believed to be her boyfriend. The post-mortem examination revealed signs of strangulation, along with a deep-cut wound on her thigh severing a vein, resulting in significant blood loss that led to her demise.

According to investigators, there is a belief that Matara engaged in a physical altercation with Wahu before overpowering and ultimately causing her death.

Following Matara’s arrest, numerous women came forward with complaints, claiming to be victims of his actions.
