Students at Riomego Boarding Primary School in Nyamira County are grappling with losses as their dormitory went up in flames for the third time in just 72 hours. The first two incidents occurred on Thursday at 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm, respectively. The Saturday incident marked the third destruction of the dormitory, prompting authorities to launch investigations into the cause of the fires.

The Kenya Red Cross responded to the initial incident on February 1, actively engaging in efforts to address the fire emergency. Fire engines from the county arrived in time during the Saturday incident, successfully containing the inferno.

Leaders are now calling for thorough investigations into the matter, expressing concern over a single institution experiencing three fire incidents in less than two days. Adams Mochenwa, a politician, emphasized the need to uncover the root cause of these repeated incidents.

As of the latest update, the school management and education officials were yet to provide statements regarding the ongoing situation.
