SBU Arrests Spy Leaking Ukrainian Military Positions in Donetsk

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has detained a Russian informant who was aiding enemy forces in the Donetsk region. According to the SBU, the detained woman was passing on sensitive information about the positions of Ukrainian Armed Forces, particularly focusing on the locations of heavy artillery units tasked with countering Russian assault groups attempting to capture the village of New York in Donetsk.

The SBU reported that the informant was also trying to ascertain the coordinates of Ukrainian military headquarters, strongholds, and troop movement routes. This intelligence was intended to assist Russian forces in planning new offensive operations aimed at taking control of the village, where intense fighting is ongoing.

The woman was captured during a counter-sabotage operation by SBU officers on the front line. At the time of her arrest, she was attempting to evacuate from the village to a nearby frontline area. The investigation revealed that she communicated with Russian intelligence through her mother-in-law, who resides in Russia and is monitored by Russian intelligence services. The information she gathered was transmitted via voice messages to a contact in Russia.

The detained informant has been charged under Part 2 of Article 114-2 of the Ukrainian Criminal Code, which pertains to the unauthorized dissemination of information regarding the movement or location of Ukrainian Armed Forces. If convicted, she could face a prison sentence of up to eight years.
