Two people were injured in a Russian shelling attack on the village of Antonivka in the Kherson region, as reported by the Kherson Regional Military Administration (RMA) on Wednesday. The incident has increased the number of casualties from the strike, which targeted the village in the early hours of the day.
The first victim, a 55 year old locksmith, was injured during the initial shelling of Antonivka. He was reportedly working in the area when Russian forces launched the attack. Shortly after, it was confirmed that a second person, a 42 year-old employee of a critical infrastructure enterprise, also sustained injuries in the same attack. The worker suffered an explosive injury and an abdominal wound and was promptly taken to the hospital for treatment.
The RMA’s statement highlighted the seriousness of the injuries sustained by the critical infrastructure worker, who is currently receiving medical assistance. The situation in Antonivka remains tense, as the village, located in the suburbs of Kherson, continues to be a target for Russian shelling.
This recent attack is part of an ongoing series of military actions in the Kherson region, where both civilian and infrastructure targets have been affected by the conflict. The local authorities continue to monitor the situation closely and are providing support to those injured in the attack.
The shelling of Antonivka underscores the continued vulnerability of civilians and essential workers in conflict zones, as the war in Ukraine persists.
