Bumula Member of Parliament, Jack Wamboka, and DAP-K party leader, Eugene Wamalwa, have voiced their support for ODM party leader Raila Odinga’s candidacy for the AU Commission chairperson position. Speaking during an Azimio rally in Sirisia on Saturday, Eugene emphasized Raila’s suitability for the role, describing him as both a Kenyan patriot and a Pan-Africanist.

Addressing the crowd, Eugene expressed the Azimio team’s desire to offer Africa one of its best leaders, citing Raila Odinga’s credentials and dedication to the continent’s welfare. He emphasized that if Raila were to secure the AU job, it would not only benefit Azimio but the entire African continent.

Furthermore, Eugene highlighted the strategic significance of Raila’s elevation to the AU, suggesting that it would pave the way for other Azimio co-principals to contend for the 2027 coalition flag bearer position, enabling them to compete with the Kenya Kwanza administration.

Echoing Eugene’s sentiments, MP Wamboka lauded Raila’s tireless efforts in championing democracy, both in Kenya and across Africa. He emphasized the importance of supporting Raila’s bid for the AU position, citing his statesmanship and capability to fulfill the responsibilities of the role effectively.

MP Wamboka also called upon President William Ruto and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to throw their weight behind Raila’s candidacy, emphasizing that Raila’s success would benefit Kenya as a whole. He reassured supporters that even if Raila were to assume a new role at the AU, the Azimio la Umoja coalition would remain steadfast and continue to provide effective leadership and oversight.

The rally was attended by various leaders, including Roots party leader George Wacjakoyah, Sirisia politician Moses Nandalwe, and several MCAs, underscoring the broad support within the Azimio coalition for Raila Odinga’s bid for the AU Commission chairperson position.
