Rift Valley leaders, led by Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei, have expressed unwavering support for Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. During the funeral of Philip Kipsigei Toni, the father of Bomet Senator Hillary Sigei, Senator Cherargei urged Gachagua to ignore external distractions and continue fulfilling his responsibilities.

“We are telling you as leaders from the Rift Valley, we are behind you and the President 100 per cent. Wacha ile kelele unapigiwa huko nje, kama unapigiwa kelele huko sana kuja hapa nyumbani tutafanya kazi na wewe,” said Senator Cherargei.

Narok West MP Gabriel Tongoyo echoed the sentiment, advising Gachagua to stay focused and uphold his commitment to supporting the President’s agenda.

“A lot will be said your Excellency because they are not happy when they see you together with the President, but do not be shaken,” Tongoyo stated.

Emurua Dikir MP Johana Ngeno and Kipkelion West MP Hillary Koskei emphasized the vital role Deputy President Gachagua plays in supporting the President, pledging their continued support.

The leaders’ statements come amidst speculation about the deputy presidential position in the 2027 general election. A group of Murang’a leaders, led by Senator Joe Nyutu and Gatanga MP Edward Muriu, has endorsed Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro as a potential deputy for Deputy President William Ruto.

Senator Nyutu stressed Murang’a’s importance in national politics and advocated for Ndindi Nyoro as a suitable candidate. However, the Rift Valley leaders have affirmed their support for Gachagua, emphasizing his crucial role in the region and the President’s initiatives.
