President William Ruto expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the President of the United States, Joe Biden, for the warm reception and splendid state dinner he hosted on Thursday evening at the White House in Washington, D.C.

In a statement released on Friday, May 24, 2024, Dr. Ruto described the event as memorable and the culmination of the 60-year relationship between America and Kenya.

“On behalf of myself and my delegation, I thank President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden for your reception and the national dinner. Your gracious reception made the night memorable, and I am grateful. Thank you, Mr. President,” President Ruto stated in a statement shared on his X social media account on Friday.

President Ruto departed Kenya on Sunday evening for a visit at the invitation of President Biden, a trip that concluded on Friday.

During the visit, the Kenyan head of state signed several investment agreements, including one worth 23 billion shillings with the Coca-Cola company.

Furthermore, the United States agreed to fund the expansion project of the Nairobi-Mombasa highway to make it an eight-lane road, four lanes on each side, at a cost of 471 billion shillings, while the education ministry received a boost with a grant of 4.7 billion shillings.

President Biden assured Ruto that America and Kenya would always stand together for mutual advancement.

“Today, I have hope as those patriots of Kenya did when they raised the new flag high at midnight. Kenya and America stand together. They are committed to supporting each other. They are committed to their citizens. And they are committed to building a new world,” President Biden stated in a statement on social media.

United States Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin bid farewell to President Ruto formally, who then boarded a plane to return to his country.
