Drones from Iraq Target Israeli Military Bases in Latest Attack, Group Claims

By The Media Line Staff

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq, a pro-Iranian faction, claimed responsibility for a drone attack on Israel’s Golani observation base in the “occupied Palestinian territories” on Monday. The announcement followed a similar attack on Sunday, where drones targeted a location in the Israeli-occupied Jordan Valley.

These actions are part of a series of escalating attacks by Iraqi Shi’ite armed factions, who, along with other pro-Iranian groups, pledged to carry out assaults in solidarity with Palestinians after Hamas launched its attack on Israel on October 7 of last year, triggering the ongoing war in Gaza.

The Israeli military confirmed that it deployed interceptors against an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) launched from Iraq, which was identified crossing into Israeli airspace from Syria. No injuries were reported in the incidents.

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq claimed its drones successfully struck a target in the Jordan Valley, though the group did not provide specific details. These attacks come amid rising tensions in the Middle East, with regional hostilities escalating since the explosion of thousands of communication devices used by Lebanon’s Hezbollah, an incident widely attributed to Israel.
