On Saturday, April 13, 2024, Iran launched a series of drone and missile attacks against Israel in a reported retaliatory strike that injured a seven-year-old girl.

Reports from Israel said the attacks also caused minor damage to a military facility.

The drones were flown into several major cities including Tel Aviv and West Jerusalem.

Loud explosions were heard as the drones and missiles were intercepted by specialized military systems designed to counter such attacks.

The Israeli military said the attacks involved “more than 300 drones and missiles.”

“However, our systems managed to intercept 90 percent of these missiles,” the military said on Sunday, April 14, 2024.

The military also received assistance from countries like France, the United Kingdom, and the United States in countering the drones.

In addition to Iran, the military said the drones were launched from other countries such as Iraq and Yemen.

Health workers reported that a girl in southern Israel was injured by a piece of a drone that was intercepted by specialized systems.

“We identified several drones launched at a military facility in the southern area, causing minor damage,” the military said.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) from Iran confirmed carrying out the attack.

It described it as “retaliation against the Israeli strike on its embassy in Syria on April 1, where 12 people were killed.”

So far, Israel has neither confirmed nor denied its involvement in the attack.

On Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared “victory” against Iran and its allies.
